I

‘m Pregnant! Oh please, don’t send me congratulatory messages yet. That is the name of the latest magazineim-pregnant-magazine3
on the Ugandan Market that I and a close friend have birthed. More than 50% of expectant mothers do not have access to health information in this pearl of Africa! Many die from pregnancy related illnesses that would have otherwise been avoided in the first place. Mothers are dieing in the labour ward or even in the corridors of labour wards because of lack of information and ignorance – simply put! But there is a solution to every problem and I’m Pregnant Magazine is the answer to these problems.
This monthly magazine has all the information that today’s mums and dads need to know from conception to the third birthday. In life, there are two words which usually change a person’s life completely. One is “I do” and the other is “I’m Pregnant”. The latter means one is going to become responsible and go through changes that they also can’t explain.
I have talked to many pregnant friends, relatives and colleagues and one thing is for sure, they don’t know what to expect or think when they are pregnant. As one mother put it plainly, “we are strangers to ourselves”.

But while the mothers are thrilled, scared and overwhelmed, so is their partner. Whatever your life was as a couple, pregnancy changes it irrevocably. Expectant dads can’t explain how their spouses feel. Most expectant dads are totally clueless on how to handle their spouses. They also have their own fears which they cannot tell anyone because they are men! The lack of information for both expectant dads and mums only aggravates the situation.
Information regarding their feelings whether they are normal or weird; their body changes; how to take care of their bodies; fashion; name it is hard to come by.
A Chinese adage goes thus; the journey of a thousand miles starts with one step…I’m Pregnant is happy to take the first step with you and be your companion throughout this long audacious journey from pregnancy to the third year of your child. I’m Pregnant magazine is available at every supermarket in and around Kampala. Grab yourself a copy.
